This plum-sized fruit with red rubbery skin and covered with soft, flexible fine green-tipped hairy thorns is very well know in Thailand and is one of the most attractive Thai fruits, Thai rambutans are noted for their sweetness. The glassy-whitish flesh, is similar to lychee though much sweeter . It is easy to get at by breaking open the thick but loose skin then inside is a juicy, pale-coloured flesh and a large seed. Rohng-rian and See-chohmpoo. The main growing areas are Chanthaburi and the southern province of Surat Thani. There is a small village, Na Sarn near Surat Thani widely known in Thailand for producing large amounts of this fruit. Large quantities, both fresh and canned , are exported worldwide.,
